Default ???? I was thinkin!!! I wonder if my drag wheels will fit???

the more i think about it, it's the same bolt pattern. I gotta think the 17" front alumastars oughta fit for sure, if they can clear an 03/04 cobra brake right?

i don't know about the rears though, being 15" with that suspension they'll probably hit

anything for a 12 though lol

maybe i'll test fit tonight

other questions is, how much power goes where?????

who knows??

will the skinnies just spin. gotta be a hell of a weight reduction off the front

If the wheels are different diameters between front and rear, the AWD system is going to have a fit.

If it doesn't break outright, that is.

yeah, if the overall height is not the same, that'll be a problem, didn't think about that

the 20's are prob 28" tall and i know the skinnies around around 26", wouldn't work unless the slicks would clear too

It aint gonna make it any faster with sticky tires. IT's already AWD and weighs 4000lbs.

this isn't my first go round down the dragstrip.

weight is everything, every 10lbs of rotational weight you pull is like pulling 100lbs of fixed weight off the car to a certain point.

if you can pull 20-25lbs off each front tire and 15 or so off each rear, your talking about pulling 70-80lbs of rotational weight

that could easily translate into 2-3 tenths maybe more

if the diameter of the tires is different, won't the AWD always think the smaller pair is slipping.
where are the sensors that control this?

they will be rotating at a quicker speed than the larger set. How it will adjust is a good question. Would putting a little bit bigger tires on the back cause the AWD to try and put more force to the back wheels?

try it out and let us know if something breaks.

if you don't think knocking nearly 100 pounds of weight off your tires will get you at least .2 then you can't have done much serious racing

100 lbs of fixed weight should get you .1 rotational that will at least double, at least

Dude, if this guy has a Termi and has been to the track, then he basically knows his stuff. Being a fellow SVT owner, I can vouch for shaving off weight bro. Lose some poundage on that SHO and let 'er ass eat! Then, like the other guy(s) said, let us know what breaks. Good luck beefcake, BEEFCAKE!!

how many 12 sec cars, not too many to be honest with you.

i did have a 99 cobra than ran 10.50's
and an 01 lightning that ran 11.8's @ 5200 lbs, oh yeah, and i won 4 national events with that one back in 02 and was featured on espn a few times
then there was my 90 s/c gt that ran 11.9's
oh wait, then my 04 cobra than went 11.2's
shit i forgot, then i had my other 01 lighning that ran 10.7's at around 5100 lbs
lets see what else, oh yeah, my 06 gt than ran 11.9's, then there was the 08 gt500 after that, i think it went 11.17's, then my 08 corvetter that went 10.8's, then the 04 mystic cobra i just sold that went 11.0's.

oh yeah, and the 2 hayabusas than went 9.9's, to 9.8's, and lest we not forget the turbo hayabusa that went 8.6's.

so your right, no 12 sec cars

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypOH5aOBBsY

here is the 10sec lightning, it went 10.9's driving it to the track on dr's, it was pretty sick, built motor, stage 3 heads and cams, ported blower @ 16psi plus 100 shot, no vids though. i removed the factory interior and put in corbeaus, and then tapped the holes in the floor and put an expedition console in (the expy's have the same chassis, so the holes were there, just needed tapping)

this is all i could dig up real quick, maybe i'll find some more later

from what I've heard the 2010 has a front end bias so skinnys up front isn't the greatest idea ever. I'd get a set of lighter, fairly wide wheels and shorten the diameter to get a gear reduction that way. the speedo will be off though.

The '10 SHO has a 90% rear bias, from what I recall being discussed by the drivetrain engineers.

James, I want to have your children and all, But I don't agree with you one bit.

I would bet a SAMMICH that Dumping 20'' 35 Pound wheels for a set of 18'' 20pound wheels on all four corners would certainly give him .2 tenths or more at the strip. On my a old White 92 I had, I ran it with a set of 18'' wheels...I don't recall the weight....but they were HEAVY. I ran a 15.2@96.1 MPH with a 2.3 60' Time. The next week i went back with a set of Slicers on and ran a 15.0@94.9 (Lost some MPH by going with the Smaller 16'' wheels) with a exact 60' of 2.3. The weather was even spot on with the previous week. This happened more then once.

I'm not trying to say you don't know what your talking about James but I probably have 100+ Runs down the strip with all kinds of different setup's in SHO's. Doing stuff as simple as pulling out a 50+ Pound passenger seat has always netted me times at least 1-2 tenths faster. Saving nearly 60 pounds of weight from the wheels will certainly make a difference.

-Sam

well, unfortunately i'm not psychic to know what you "meant" to type, i can only comment on what you actually typed.

when i was competing with my lightning nationally i regularly kept 200lbs of ballast with me. i would look at sat days qualifying weather and estimated weather of sunday to determine when and where to use the ballast.

i'd use those ballast in 50lb increments. weight is the same as elevation. everything affects whats going on. every 100 ft of elevation is roughly .01 in the quarter, 1000ft is roughly .1

why do you think heads up classes run weight requirements.

weight has a ton to do with what your gonna run, and thats just common sense. and rotational mass affects it even more. why do you think guys do things like lightweight brakes, alum driveshafts, drag wheels. it's all for e.t.

and again, on a heavy 20" wheel. a halfway decently light wheel would def get you a minimum of .2,

i'd say a set of even 20" forged wheels in the same size would get you .1
