Car Jerking When Going Uphill **SOLVED**

i had a previous post about when i would try to maintain speed uphill the car would kind of shimmy or stutter. the revs would not move but you could feel the car jerk. at first i feared my tranny, then i ruled that out and feared my vss, then i decided it could be a misfire. when i checked my plug wells in may there was no oil in them. my problem got decidedly worse through these months and ive been waiting over 2 months for a new set of wires from Taylor (apparently theyre on some sort of massive backorder).

so i break down and buy a set of wires from advanced auto (and by the way, they are 99% identical to the motorcraft wires, excellent boot fit, 7mm core, good length) and i found oil in my middle rear plugwell, and this weekend ill change the gaskets. i only was able to change 4 of 6 plug wires without removing the intake but even changing those 4 out was worth it. my car no longer jerks when maintaining speed going uphill. i hope this helps a few people.

well im not saying it cant be done, but my wires were pinched underneath it in the back. not to mention the end rings on my plug boots ripped off and were in my rear plugwells which i couldnt get to without taking off the intake (shows you how old the wires were). ill get to it this weekend because weve been having torential downpours in this part of ny this week.

MTX is a ton easier than ATX, and you can't really get the proper wiring routing without pulling the intake.

they were listed for the SHO and i think they were made by a company called "exact" or something. i will double check when i get home from work today if you want to check back here later this afternoon. they were $70 i believe. autozone wanted $90 and i dont even know if they were the same ones.

When I replaced my plugs and wires and wut not i found it made the job alot eisier to take off the hood to get to all the back ones. I had to remove a few things along the back of the intake but it only took about 5 mins. I never had to touch the intake,

Xact is the brand name.. they are GP Sorenson branded wires...

I used to sell them when i worked there and as a general rule they were not good wires. Not saying they didn't get the job done for you, but over a much broader spectrum of vehicles and a large timeframe you get to see what parts last on cars and what parts don't if you are in the auto parts business long enough. the Xact wires aren't as bad as say the autozone double silicone wire sets, but they are a mediocre wire set at best.

On a side note, and more on subject i'm glad to hear you got your car fixed... its like driving a whole new car when you fix a problem like that...and you fall in love with the thing all over again

in that case i wont cancel my order for the taylor wires which are 2 months overdue

they're just my temporary solution. i couldnt deal with the misfiring anymore. and youre totally right, driving it is so much fun again not having to worry about where my foot is on the throttle.
