Default 400ft-lbs of Torque?

http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=106885

This can be done on a Gen III as well.

Any takers?

Does the install come with a wavetracked 3.2MTX swap?

If you want it too...

Anything is possible given enough time and money.

Yeah.. on a gen3? I don't think the tranny would last long.

Be pretty sweet though.

It wouldn't last long on any old ATX SHO. But then you go back to FPS and get a beefed up one... or you get it at the same time. Good business sense. Also the cost to play.

I don't think the shift kit will help. I mean.. you would have to beef up all the planetary disk's and the braking plates along with it for it to last longer... I mean.. think about it.. ~400 ft/pounds.. that's essentially 100% increase in torque.

I think Doug uses a little valve body voodoo and other tricks but yes ~400 ft/lbs is alot. It may be less bad if the power comes on later in the power band vs from a start. Surely true for MTX, probably true for ATX.

You make a good point. I guess it's just a matter of waiting until someone does it and see how it does.

And yes 6-8 psi is a lot of fun to kick around with.

With a positive displacement blower, and the early onset low end grunt, my stock tranny lasted only 160 miles.

I'd expect a later boost onset - like a turbo or centrifugal supercharger - to be more gentle on the trans, but not to the point where I'd expect it to survive for much longer.
Especially on a well worn trans. TQ converter doesn't stand much of a chance either.

to be fair driving style has a huge factor in its lifespan. To be perfectly honest I think it is a decent transmission but I DON'T think it was at all designed for high rpm. All of the transmissions in my car shift harder at 5500 or 6K than at 7 and they shift horribly slow at 7500+. So with that theory your PD blower probably extended the life of your tranny because you probably didn't wind out the engine like I do with my big turbo.

What about with a built tranny? Mine was rebuilt with heavy Duty internals...

doug from FPS (SHO Dude) told me to not run more than 8psi if I wanted a reliable fun setup. 4 transmissions and 40K (miles) later I realize that I should have listened. from what I have learned our transmissions are just not up to taking a huge amount of power. 8psi is a blast to drive. it is not 400tq but it will keep a smile on your face and that little turbo would probably do well through the top end too at the lower boost.
