2010 SHO - This feature hasn't worked since I purchased the car in 2013. Anyone ever repaired this themselves? I wonder if the switch, fuse/relay or some other gremlin could be the culprit?

You have the key fob with you when trying the button, right?

Okay. Does the trunk release button on the key fob work to release the trunk? If so, maybe it's just a faulty button on the rear bumper or somehow the connector has become unplugged. Has any work every been done to the rear that you're aware of?

Yeah, the trunk release from the fob works fine. I will attempt to check the switch on the car this weekend. I don't know if work has been done on the rearend or not. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something simpler that I was missing. Thank you.

    Crazy and a little funny!

I've been using my fob this whole time to open my truck, at least twice a day and crusing Ford each time for having everything else work without removing my keys form my pocket!

I even look at one point thinking, surely they have one some place!

I should read the manual a little more but thanks for posting this issue! Sorry I can't help you with yours but you really made my night.

Best of luck with your issue,
    David.

Just wave your foot under the rear bumper, right?

Bump! Mine isn't working either... Tried short press, long press, and double tap lol
    I'm thinking it's probably a fuse...

be aware that the trunk release above the plate will only release the trunk if the vehicle is unlocked, while the fob will release it either locked or unlocked. so basically, you need to touch the door handle first, to unlock the car, then the trunk button on the car to get the trunk to open.

That is a different system and to my knowledge not available for Taurus....It is a big hit with the CUV/SUV market to allow the opening of the liftgate with hands full and not being able to access the key fob.

This is not been my experience. Mine opens the trunk when the car is locked.

I think that mine has also stopped working, but I will need to verify with doors locked and unlocked to see if the result is the same. Otherwise I will have the dealer look at it when I'm in for next oil change. I must admit that having warranty coverage sure is nice, after years of driving old and hand-me-down vehicles.

We have had dozens of these cars on the lot, and the trunk will not open with that button by the license plate if the car is locked. If you think about it for a couple of seconds you will realize that is correct, because otherwise anyone could steal stuff from your car trunk even if it was locked.

On my MKS, if the fob is in range (such as in my pocket), I can open the trunk whether the car is locked or not. If the fob is locked inside the car, you cannot open the trunk with the button. Intelligent access system knows whether the fob is outside or inside and if the doors are locked.

That wouldn't be the case if there was a proximity sensor like the front passenger and drivers doors have.
Also, I believe the new Mustang has a similar button and unlocks the doors automatically prior to opening the trunk with that button.

Ditto for me and my 2015. I (like probably a dozen other people after reading the thread) had to run out to the garage with the fob in my pocket to open the trunk with the doors locked.

That's not the case on my 2010 SHO. From what I've done the button near the license plate is entirely dependent on the proximity of the key fob and not if the vehicle is locked/unlocked. See the videos below. In the first one you can see and hear me lock the car and then use the button to open the trunk. In the second video I put the keyfob in the house, you can see me open the unlocked door, and then you see the trunk button doesn't work (even with the vehicle unlocked).

    Thanks!
I'm hoping my issue is just a blown fuse.

Learned something new today. Guess I missed this chapter in the manual. Found the button, doors unlocked, key fob in hand, pressed the button and nothing happened. If someone figures out why it won't work, fuse or something else, let me know. Wouldn't be the first time I couldn't get the little button to work, IYKWIM
