How far does your brake pedal go down?

    I just bought a 2010 SHO, and found the brake pedal very spongy and didn't apply any braking power until about half way down. The dealer replaced a booster and ABS module in it, and its still the same. I have to go drive another one to compare, but how far does your pedal go before the brakes apply? I know its not normal but just wanting your input. Thanks

    Yes, that is factory brakes, mine also slowly go to the floor if you maintain steady pressure, also factory. 2013's made a huge improvement and there's writeups on the forum on how to do it for under $500 or so.

    Really, how is that safe??? That's exactly what mine do! Is the improvement a master cylinder and a booster? I m pretty sure I need a master cylinder.

    At the very least, upgrade your pads (& rotors) and bleed the system properly. Then, if so inclined, proceed with a master cylinder/booster upgrade (intensive, but should be quite doable for someone experienced in brakework). The brake lines don't quite fit when you upgrade the MC/booster, that causes most of the additional work.

    excessive pedal travel could also due to a faulty rear caliper not self adjusting properly.

    Yeah--sounds like what I need on my '11, 31K. Bot in Feb '13). If you ar anyone can help w/exactly what parts are recommended (which pads, master and booster, plus any tubing adapters), and of course the type of ship best qualified (dealer or specialist), that wd be awesome. Can't believe they let a car this powerful and heavy designed for an enthusiast market (not track--just safe and appropriate) out with this super spongy brake feel.

    There are many aftermarket rotor/pad combinations that should suit your needs. If going with just pads, you can try EBC Yellowstuff (or Redstuff if more daring), Stoptech, Hawk HP+, etc. A full kit at a reasonable price (rotors/pads) can be had from Power Stop (watch for discounts on autoanything.com). Goodrich stainless brake lines can help firm up the pedal feel. Going whole hog with master cylinder/booster? You should head over to www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com and register.
